Version of October 31, 2026

These rules apply to video calls on Chessday. Before your first call we will ask you to confirm that you agree to them, and to confirm again when these rules change. If you don't agree, don't use video calls: you can play and study without them.

1. Where video calls are available

  • Video calls are available only in a game with a friend and in an online lesson with a coach.
  • Games with a random opponent, public games and games against a bot have no video calls.
  • You choose who you talk to: the service does not pick anyone for a video call.
  • A call always has two people. It starts only after the other person presses “Accept”. You can turn off your camera and microphone and end the call at any moment.

2. Children and teenagers

  • If you are under 18, you may use video calls only with the permission of your parents or legal guardians.
  • If you are under 14, your parents or legal guardians must know exactly who you are calling.
  • If a conversation makes you feel uncomfortable or scared, end the call and tell a parent, teacher or another adult you trust. It's not your fault.
  • Be careful if someone suggests meeting up or moving to another app, asks for photos or personal details, or asks you to hide something from your parents.
  • For parents: go through these rules with your child and check who they play and study with. If you don't want your child to use video calls, ask them not to accept calls or turn calls on in a game.

3. How the connection works

  • Video and sound travel in encrypted form directly between the participants' browsers (WebRTC technology).
  • We don't record or store conversations, and we don't watch or listen to them.
  • If a direct connection fails, the stream goes through an intermediate server of a third-party provider, which may be located outside your country. The server passes the stream along without decrypting it.
  • To set up the connection, browsers exchange technical data through our server. With a direct connection, the other person may learn your IP address.
  • We keep the game or lesson record: the accounts of the participants, the date and the time.

4. We don't control the conversation

  • The service only provides the technical means of connection: it doesn't start a call for you, choose who you talk to, or alter the video and sound.
  • We can't see what happens during a call and can't prevent a violation in advance.
  • We don't verify the identity or age of users. A nickname doesn't prove who you are talking to.
  • You are responsible for what you show, say and do during a call.
  • Only accept calls from people you know.

5. What is prohibited

During a call you must not:

  • share information that is prohibited by law or harmful to the health and development of children, including adult (18+) content, or ask the other person to do so;
  • make suggestions to a minor that are inappropriate for their age, or persuade a minor to meet you, move to another app or hide the contact from their parents;
  • insult, humiliate, stalk or threaten the other person;
  • incite hatred or hostility based on sex, race, nationality, language, origin, religion or membership of a social group;
  • show cruelty or encourage actions dangerous to life or health;
  • call for violence or other unlawful acts, or offer prohibited goods or substances;
  • deceive the other person or try to obtain money, passwords, SMS codes or bank card details;
  • pretend to be someone else, including a coach or a member of our staff;
  • record the call, take screenshots or publish them without the other person's consent;
  • advertise goods or services;
  • break the law in any other way.

6. If something goes wrong

  • End the call right away with the “End” button: the connection stops immediately.
  • Write to us through the feedback form or at info@chessday.ru. Give the nickname of the other person, the link to the game or lesson, the date and time, and describe what happened.
  • We will review your report within a reasonable time. Reports of harm to children are reviewed first.
  • As a result, we may restrict the offender’s access to video calls or to the whole service.
  • If there is a threat to life or health, or a crime has been committed, contact your local emergency services or the police. We provide the information we hold to public authorities upon a lawful request.

7. Liability

  • The participants are responsible for the content of their conversation.
  • The site administration is not responsible for what users do or say during a call, except where the law provides otherwise.
  • Call quality depends on your network and devices. We don't guarantee that a call will connect or run without interruptions.
  • These rules do not limit the rights the law gives you as a consumer and do not exclude liability that cannot be excluded by law.

8. Changes to these rules

  • We may change these rules. The current version is always on this page, and a new version applies to calls started after it is published.
